Hmm. The McCarthy era and the more recent Patriot Act have both given us examples of times when government has considered itself above the modern legal system. I don't know enough about legal issues to really know how Lawyer!Methos would go about legally arguing for his son's release. Any ideas? What judge would be (a) qualified to hear the pleading and (b) willing to grant it audience? My understanding is the way these systems work is that they restrict the qualified judges to ones who refuse to back the laws.
