I think probably not. Or rather, he's quite honest about the fact that he's detoxing from the killing-people addiction and they're all wierded out by the fact that he might be telling the truth. Serial killers aren't supposed to realize that they're addicted and be proactive about quitting. So they know why, they just don't have an explanation for the explanation. Does that make sense?
