Yeah, Joe probably wouldn't want to be Immortal. He already knows about all the problems immortality results in.
I saw above that you were asking about suggestions for Methos's approach. Unfortunately, there's probably a limited time frame involved, or I'd suggest the approach used in your NCIS/Highlander plotbunny. Maybe one of Methos's identities has been contacted about working for the SGC in the past but he only accepts it now. In "Square Peg", Methos thinks about how the NID could be a useful tool. Maybe Methos gives the NID information and arranges other incidents to keep the SGC busy while he works out the security for the SGC from the inside? He also sends emails to the SGC with arguments based on history and philosophy about their dealings with Goauld, comparing it to how the US sent Japanese Americans to prison camps(? - I'm not sure what they were called) during World War II, and making it clear that he's behind their recent troubles. The SGC would probably question the son about Methos but I'm not sure just how much he'd say. He'd want to say enough to make them think twice about killing him, but he can't say too much or he'd get Methos mad at him or get him caught.
Thanks for your responses! I like reading your plotbunnies and the comments expanding them.
