quirky detectives
Jan. 2nd, 2009 11:37 amFor Christmas I received the first season of "Life" on DVD. It is awesome!!!
Basic premise: A police officer was falsely convicted of a murder and spent 12 years in prison before being acquitted. While inside, he found comfort in Zen philosophy. Now he's back as a detective tracking down weekly badguys and trying to find who framed him way back when. And generally pissing off his new partner with zen-ish non-sequitors. Thus: awesome!
However, when I first saw the opening bit for the first episode, my reaction was: "oh no, it's Horatio Caine." (who I don't like). Then, while watching the episode, I realized that it was in fact Horatio Caine if he had been done right. If he had the charm to pull off his quirkiness and the background to explain his obsessions.
Awesome!
Anyway, if there is someone out there who likes Horatio Caine and has seen "Life" let me know what you think of the comparison. Which character do you prefer and why?
