I see that, and its kind of what I see in Highlander too, not matter how pan sexual methos might be I see him and Duncan as only friends who love eachother in a non sexual way.
Though I can see them both with Hugh or Amanda with no problem, with each other despite what most of the fandom thinks doesn't work for me.
and the same happens in NCIS especially with regards to Gibbs because he is almost a father figure sometimes it seems, especially to Abby and Tony (at least that is the vide I get) and for Tony he is at the very least mentor and unlike with some other shows, I just can't see that developing in a sexual way....
To me Tony, Abby and Gibbs are almost as a father and his two kids, or at least the dad, his girl and the neighbours kid who is pratically family with the wacky uncle/grandfather being Ducky.
Mcgee does fit there but those three are for me the core... Mcgee is the daughters best friend who gets adopted in and who the older brother likes to tease but will protect no matter what.
