Unfortunately I don't. I never read the books, just saw the movies, although that was a very long time ago. I vaguely remember him escaping?
The parts I found really similar to Methos was that Hannibal is very intelligent and manipulating. He could say really scary things yet can be really charming as well. Furthermore he has experimented with killing in disturbing ways.
In the plotbunny you mention a friendship between Reid and Methos. When Hannibal was in prison he also developed (some kind of) friendship with some woman (can't remember her name). He would profile murderers for her and she would tell him about her life and childhood. (you mentioned Reid telling Methos about his mother? *wink wink nudge nudge* ;)
As for Methos and Hannibal meeting; personally I would like to see Hannibal meeting his match in Methos. Methos does have experience with another psychotic mass murder who likes to eat his prey. I can see Methos saying something like "You remind me of my brother, he also likes to eat his victims" and any observers going 'you have a brother like that?!'
