Heh. That's not my big question. My big question is generally, how do I keep Methos out of it? He always seems to appear in my plot ideas.
I do have this image of Methos as a small town sheriff who at first glance seems an utter hollywood stereotype of a small town sheriff: lazy and incompetent and with a strong drawl. And then, through some investigation, is discovered to be extremely intelligent and knowledgeable, just merely extremely laid back. And with a strong drawl.
This version of Methos could definitely be inserted into the plot. Maybe due to the high profile nature of the crime, the FBI come to take over the investigation, and Sheriff Methos sits back and lets them, while every so surreptitiously trying to guide the investigation towards the correct criminal and away from a few local secrets. And there are people who are "out" as mutants and others who are still in the closet. Of course Methos knows who's who but he wants to make sure that no one is outed against their will.
Maybe his deputies are James Ellison and Blair Sandburg?
